The Disegno team is heading to Sweden for Stockholm Design Week (4-10 February). Below are a collection of some of the events that we’ll be part of while in the city.

The latest edition of the magazine will be on sale at the temporary store Form Us With Love Market (pictured at the top of the page) throughout the week. Started by Stockholm design studio Form Us With Love, the pop-up shop will also feature an exhibition of Form Us with Love’s latest designs for Finnish furniture producer One Nordic, Belgian carpet manufacturer JoV and Swedish lighting manufacturer Ateljé Lyktan, among others.

The Art of Communicating Design, 5 February, 2:45-3:45 pm

Disegno’s editor in chief Johanna Agerman Ross will lead a discussion on the current and future state of design publishing at the Hello! Show on the opening day of Stockholm Furniture Fair. The panel of experts is made up of Marcus Fairs, the founder of Dezeen, Hanna Nova Beatrice, editor-in-chief of Swedish Residence magazine, and Justin McGuirk, the publishing director of newly founded Strelka Press. It promises to be a lively debate and we will be publishing parts of it on Disegno Daily after the event.

Sitting Down With American Hardwood, 6 February, 2pm

Designers Sebastian Wrong and Harry Richardson discuss Out of the Woods, a project they worked on with students from the Product Design course at the Royal College of Art in London. Done in collaboration with the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) and British furniture producer Benchmark, the students were asked to design and manufacture seating during a week-long workshop in Berkshire last summer. The project touched on both design education and our understanding of the lifecycle of objects, and now the finished pieces will be displayed at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Johanna Agerman Ross will head up the debate between Wrong, Richardson, Sean Sutcliffe from Benchmark, David Venables from AHEC and students from the Royal College of Art.

Behind the Scenes – Stories from the Design Industry, launch, 7 February

Swedish design critic Hanna Nova Beatrice is launching her book Behind The Scenes - Stories From the Design Industry in Stockholm. The book gives a comprehensive view of a side of the design world that we don't often see: how products are priced, the importance of distribution, how PR and marketing helps to hype designers and brands, and the current changes brought about by new technology. Contributors to the book include Domus editor Joseph Grima, Aparatmento magazine editor-in-chief Marco Velardi and Disegno's Johanna Agerman Ross.
