Make It Happen

East Iceland

24 October 2012

Make It Happen, a travelling conference held in September, explored the cultivation of a new creative community in East Iceland.

The Make It Happen creative thinking conference took place in the villages Egilsstaðir, Seyðisfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður in the far East of Iceland. The event featured seminars, talks and workshops aimed at generating ideas to develop new design projects using existing resources and explored ways of establishing a larger creative community in the region.

Participants included the designers Max Lamb, Daniel Byström and Thórunn Árnadóttir, alongside exhibitions of local design projects and material from the Royal College of Art MA Design Products course field trip to the same area earlier in the year.

Make It Happen was organised by MAKE by Þorpið, a design and development initiative aimed at promoting and supporting local design and craft initiatives in East Iceland.
