A number of museums, including London’s Science Museum and the Castello di Rivoli in Turin, are opening their doors to host the mass Covid-19 vaccination drive.
Other institutions include the Black Country Living Museum (BLCM) in Dudley, and the Thackray Museum of Medicine in Leeds. The latter has been open to patients receiving the vaccine since December.
The museums have joined forces with a number of other slightly unlikely venues, including California’s Disneyland, a racetrack in Queens, New York, and a hotel resort in Las Vegas.
The Science Museum is partnering with the NHS and is thought to begin offering the vaccines sometime next month. Castello di Rivoli is on track to open for vaccinations in March or April, with Swiss artist Claudia Comte – whose murals adorn the third floor of the venue – currently working on an audio piece to be enjoyed by patients waiting for their jab.
