This edition of the club will focus on Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, a classic piece of science writing that laid the foundations for the nascent environmental movement.
Silent Spring examines the adverse affects of pesticides in the United States, their wider environmental impact, and the misinformation spread by the chemical industry around their use. Originally published in 1962, and re-editioned by Penguin Classics, Silent Spring remains hauntingly relevant today as society struggles to face the contemporary climate emergency.
The Disegno Book Club is open to all – you don’t need to have read the book to attend, but it helps.
The Disegno Book Club is a collaboration between Disegno, the Quarterly Journal of Design and Zetteler.
